Paws of the Planet's 4th Annual EcoArt for Animals Silent Auction

Everyone had a great day at Paws of the Planet's 4th annual EcoArt for Animals Silent Auction.  Over 30 local artists contributed one-of-a-kind original paintings on EcoBags.  Thanks go out to the artists, everyone who attended, all the bidders and winners, and to The Dock Restaurant for hosting and providing the delicious strolling gourmet brunch.  Proceeds from the event and auction will benefit native wildlife, homeless pets, and education.

About a dozen Paws of the Planet Members participated in a narrated kayak tour through Newport's Back Bay Ecological Reserve on Saturday, July 16.  The paddlers enjoyed the scenery and wildlife of this amazing coastal estuary.  Joe DiStefano took some great pictures, as you can see below.  (Thanks, Joe!)

First Members Wildlife and Nature Excursion at Santa Ana Zoo

Paws of the Planet's Members & Friends enjoyed breakfast and a private Endangered Species Tour at The Santa Ana Zoo on Saturday morning, May 7, 2011. This intimate, animated tour with Zoo Director, Kent Yamaguchi, focused on the zoo's collection of rare and highly endangered animals.  Kent's enthusiasm and love for the animals shined through when he talked about the zoo's Species Survival Projects and Conservation Programs around the world. These bright, inquisitive SAZOO animals are entertained and challenged with amusing, creative and ever-changing Animal Enrichment Projects.  www.santaanazoo.org

The behind the scenes tour included meeting a pair of Pygmy Marmosets biding their time in the quarantine area.  They are so ready to move into their soon to be completed Habitat Enclosure. All they needed was an extra boost and their new home would be ready.   With generous donations from our members and friends Paws of the Planet put them over the top! Moving day is just around the corner. This is what Paws of the Planet's Collective Giving Program is all about.
