Sheltering Fur, Feathers, and Flippers
Saturday, November 7, 2009
It was a beautiful day at Peninsula Park in Newport Beach for our second
annual "Sheltering Fur, Feathers, and Flippers", an event featuring
rescue and environmental groups and benefiting the Newport Beach Animal
Shelter, Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center, Pacific Marine Mammal
Center, and Wonders of Wildlife.

Kelly from Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center shows visitors a rescued
opossum. Tide Pool Rangers show visitors how trash can travel
miles to the ocean and end up in tide pools.

Visitors climb aboard the Back Bay Science Center's Sharkmobile for a
hands-on encounter with sharks, rays, starfish, urchins, and other
marine animals.

Wonders of Wildlife brought Carnita the Pig and other animals, as well
as lots of educational material.

NBTV's Pick-A-Pet show recorded at the event, with host Jamye Rogers and
Councilman Steve Rosansky interviewing many participants.

The Lily Sanctuary again brought a number of rescued birds.

The Newport Beach Animal Shelter and a half dozen other groups brought
dozens of dogs and cats available for adoption.

Eco Art for Animals
Sunday, October 25, 2009
This was a great event and we hope all of you who came had as much fun
as we did. Here are some pictures from the event and a sampling of
the one-of-a-kind EcoBag Totes painted by local artists. Thanks to
everyone who came and who bid in the silent auction. Of course,
all proceeds to go to animal welfare projects. Special thanks to
The Dock Restaurant for hosting this fabulous event.

Thanks to Cathy McBeth and Deb Edson for taking these photos!

We are sorry to learn of the passing of Siberian Tiger Raja from
Wolves-N-Wildlife, an education facility Paws of the Planet has
supported through the years.

Santa Ana Zoo's Sunset at the Zoo
June 14, 28, and July 19, 2009
Thank you to everyone who came to see us at the Santa Ana Zoo's three
Sunset at the Zoo events. With the funds we raised selling unique Fair Trade crafts and gifts created by indigenous artisans
from around the planet, Paws of the Planet will sponsor a school bus so
that Orange County children can
make a field trip to the zoo and learn all about the amazing animals who
live there.

The crowd enjoyed some great music.

One of the Zoo's volunteers brought this skink by for a visit....

.... as well as this hedgehog.

We are proudly featuring unique Fair Trade crafts and gifts created by
indigenous artisans
from around the planet. These arts and crafts help provide a dignified,
sustainable living
for these artists from developing countries.

Jenny, Robyn, Nancy, and Tommy from Chi Sigma Phi at Cal State Fullerton
helped us
with the setup. Thanks for the support!
